The Hempest

The Hempest Dispensary is owned and operated by locals who were in the cannabis industry before there was a cannabis industry. The Hempest was founded in 1995 to push cannabis legalization in Massachusetts and have successfully educated thousands about this amazing plant. At The Hempest Dispensary, we strive to make the world better with cannabis and won’t stop the fight until we have full federal legalization.

The Hempest opened its doors to the public in 1995, offering only products made from the cannabis plant. By 2001, The Hempest had spread into Northampton with the goal of turning Massachusetts into the first legal cannabis state on the East Coast complete with dispensaries and adult use recreational stores.

The Hempest Dispensary opened in 2020 at our Northampton location and we made our first legal sale of cannabis that contained THC. During prohibition The Hempest could only legally sell imported cannabis products without THC. Now that the stigma has been removed, we invite locals as well as travelers from New York, Connecticut and Vermont to check out our menu on our website.

Northampton is the cannabis capital of western Massachusetts. If you are looking for a recreational dispensary we have plenty but there is really no need to go anywhere except The Hempest Dispensary.
